Transport Minister Anthony Loke officiates the launch of e-wallet at Terminal Bersepadu Selatan.

    MELAKA, Feb 16 -- In keeping up with the times, Melaka Sentral the major transport hub for inter-city bus travel, is gradually expanding its payment option through e-cash applications for its bus services as well as other businesses operating at the terminal.
    According to Melaka Sentral Sdn Bhd (MSSB) general manager Md Yusoff Abdullah four of the 20 express bus ticket machines have started accepting e-cash payments via Boost e-wallet application.

    Those looking to catch a bus back home can now pay for their tickets using the Touch ‘n Go e-wallet at the Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS) counters.
    Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook who officiated the launch said cashless payment would be introduced at all public bus terminals nationwide but in stages as some don't have a centralised ticketing system (CTS).

    KUALA LUMPUR: The Prime Minister wants other bus terminals in the country to emulate the centralised ticketing system (CTS) adopted by the Southern Integrated Terminal (TBS) since it began operation in 2011.
    Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad who also commended the effectiveness of system said it could raise the quality of the public transport industry in the country especially the bus service.

    AS OF April 15 next year, Melaka Sentral bus terminal will implement a centralised ticketing system (CTS) similar to Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS) in Kuala Lumpur and Larkin Sentral bus terminal in Johor Baru.
    Melaka Sentral Sdn Bhd (MSSB) chairman Nazri Abu Kasim said the system would allow passengers taking express buses from the terminal to purchase their tickets via kiosks, integrated ticketing counters and online platforms.
